ENYS].To the severall principal and other Inhabitants, Churchwardens, overseers of the poor, Waywardens and other publick Officers of the several parishes of Mabe, Stythians, Budock, Mylor, Perran-ar-worthall, and Town or Borough of Penryn in the County of Cornwall and to every of them respectivelly.
You are hereby respectively desired to take Notice that in pursuance of an Agreement made at a Vestry held at the parish Church of Gluvias in the said County on Sunday the Ninth day of June Instant by the Rev. Mr John Penrose Minister the Churchwardens, Overseers of the poor, and divers of the principle Inhabitants of the said parish of Gluvias. That the said Inhabitants and the other Officers of the said parish of Gluvias have appointed to meet on Monday the Twenty-fourth day of June Instant at the House of John Fuggler Inkeeper at Lower Treluswell in the said parish by Seven O'Clock in the morning of the same day. And from thence to make a perambulation Round the said parish of Gluvias and view and Renew the severall Boundaries thereof as hath been heretofore done but for some years past hath been Neglected. And for the more perfect Knowledge to be assured of, and assertain such Real Boundaries thereof Between it and the said other parishes and Town. These are therefore To request and desire that you the principle and other Inhabitants Churchwardens, overseers of the poor, Waywardens and other, the publick Officers of your said severall parishes of Mabe, Stythians, Budock, Mylor, Perranarworthal and Town of Penryn aforesaid (or such thereof as shall see fit) to meet at the time and place aforesaid and join in such perambulation of Survey of the said parish to assertain, the severall Boundaries, between your respective parishes and Town, and the said parish of Gluvias. Given under our hands at Gluvias aforesaid this Fourteenth day of June 1776. N.B.—That a copy of this Notice was published on Sunday 16th of June in the several parishes following: Gluvias, Budock, Mabe, Mylor, Stythians, Perranarworthal, and in Penryn 15th June 1776.
The Situation of the Bounds of the parish of Gluvias Renewed by the said principal Inhabts of the said parish. And also by the Principal Officers and other Inhabts of the severall parishes Adjoining thereto whose Names are hereunto Subscribed this Twenty-fourth day of June, 1776.
And first the said parish is Bounded agt Mylor by a River Running behind Mr. Enys's Horsepool Hedge all through the marshy Ground under the Hill as far as a Certain Water called Nancody Water just by the Roadway leading from Penryn to Carclew on the Commons from which said water the bounds of Gluvias Continues directly in a Line on the left side of the said Road to the Corner of a Certain Common or Croft Called Menhenick Croft which is situated next to the said Road and Nancody Water. From which Corner the said Bounds Continues on by the Right-hand Hedge of the said Croft (next towards Goonreeve Downs) till you come within three or four hundred yards of the end of the said Hedge where there is a Gap or Opening in the said Hedge. From which said Gap the Bound runs directly across the said Common to a Certain Corner Hedge of Sarahs Croft on which a White thorne is fixed and grows taking in one Corner of Menhennick Common aforesaid next towards Goonreeve Downs. From, which said thorne the Bounds Continues on by Sarah's outer Croft hedge till you come to a Round pitt or watering place in Sarah's Croft. From thence Continuing by Sarah's outer Croft hedge down to the furthermost Corner of the said Sarah's Great Croft Opposite against Mr. Kempes new Downs Lord Edgecombes Land and by a vacant plott of Ground there called the Green plott, near the Road going from Penryn to Truro. From which Corner the Bound Continues in a Strait line to the hedge of the said New Downs on the Right hand of the said Corner from whence it continues by the sd Right-hand Hedge taking in aforesaid Road and a Certain Garden Plott near the sd Road going from Penryn to Truro called Irish Womans Garden as far as the Corner of the Left-hand Hedge of the wood called Doricas Wood, and the Style Leading through the said Wood to Tresuddris House, *and from sd Style the Bound continues on by the Hedge to the Right-hand of sd Truro Road home to Tresuddris House, and the great River where ends the Boundy between Gluvias and Mylor of which of that side of the two parishes. Then the great River Sepperates Perranarworthal parish from Gluvias.
PERRANARWORTHAL AND GLUVIAS.
The parish of Gluvias is Bounded agt Perranarworthal parish from Tresuddris near Sticken Bridge by the great River called Pansanuth River all along till you come within abt forty or fifty yards of Pansenuth Bridge on the Blowing house side of sd River where there is a Small Gutter or Trench on the Brink of the said River through which Trench a small branch of the Mill Stream flowing Empts itself into Pansanuth River aforssaid and the hither Arch next towards Maudlin Ball side belongs to Gluvias parish and that the end of the which Trench on the Brink of sd River Terminates the Bounds between Gluvias and Perranarworthal. And from thence begins the Boundy between Stythians and Gluvias.
STYTHIANS AND GLUVIAS.
The Boundy of Gluvias parish agt Stythians begins at the Termination of the Bounds between Gluvias and Perranarworthal aft and continues up the Blowing Ho Hill by the Trench or Gutter above mentioned situated on the further side of the Blowing Ho next towards Kennell Wood in Stythians and extends up as far as the hithermost hedge of a Common Called Toppanoon which Corner is next towds the Blowing Ho From which Corner the Bound continues up the steep hill leadg to Trefry by the right-hand of Toppanoon Hedge till you come to an Elbow in the said Hedge just opposite to a new house in This Common and so on above the sd Elbow some Sixty yards or there abouts and thence Continuing over the sd Hedge into Toppanoon Hill (leaving the said new Ho in the parish of Stythians) to the right and thence the Boundary immediately Continues directly across Toppanoon Common up the Hill till you Come to two high Rocks projecting towards Ponsanooth River from whence the Bound extends in a straight line to a certaine Thwart Hedge belonging to Tregore Tenement and adj to Toppanoon Common Hedge not far fr the said Rock then the Bound continues on the side of Tregore Tenemt by the Right-hand hedge till you Come to the Hedge belonging to Lower Trefry and from thence Continuing by the outer Bound hedge of Trefry Estate to down as far as the River and Corner Hedge leading up to Lower Trefry Extending from thence up by the said River home to Lower Trefry well and from thence by the Right-hand Hedge to Lower Trefy Town Gate from thence up the Lane outside the said Gate by the Right-hand hedge till you Come to a Rock in the said Lane and from thence up the said Lane by the Right hand Hedge till you Come to three Cross Lanes in the middle whereof is a Round Bank with a pitt on the top thereof which is one of the Certain Bounds between Gluvias and Stythians. From which Bank the Bound Runns directly across the Lane to a Certain Corner Hedge dividing Deeves Tenement from Tregore Tenement and from thence Continuing by Deeves Bound Hedge to the Right hand quite across a little Lane over the Hedge into Quinnell Croft to a Round Stone just inside Quinnell Croft hedge from thence directly through the middle of Quinnells Croft till you come almost to the fartherend thereof where there is a Bank or heap of stones covered with moss another Boundy mark between the sd parishes of Gluvias and Stythians. And from thence the Bound continues directly strait over Quinnells Croft hedge into Deeves middle Croft to a Rock just inside the Hedge of Deeves middle Croft afsd. And from thence to another Rock at the further end of Deeves middle Croft continuing strait on, over the further Corner Hedge of sd Croft into the last Croft of Deeves next to Gonorman Downes, continuing on the sd Downs by the Right-hand hedge till you Come to a Large Pitt where begins another Hedge called the New Hedge which is the Bound. From thence Continuing on by the Right-hand of sd Hedge till you Come to Choon hedge. And from thence the outer Bound Hedge of Choon is the Bound till you come to turn on your Right-hand leading down through some marshy ground to Gonvean Gate but the Bound at that Turn is distinguished by a Line of Rocks. Extending down to the Hedge on left hand side of the Gate entring Gonvean Tenement. And from thence Continuing on by the Hedge then Turning on the right-hand which is the Bd between Gunvean, Trulveys and Choon Estate all along the bottom by the Right-hand hedges and so Continuing up the Hill across the way leadg fm Choone to Helstone still Continuing by Trulveys Hedge next to Choon down to the farthermost Corner Hedge Agt the Estate of Carveth in the bottom and on the other side of Carveth Hedge in the parish of Mabe which corner hedge Termenates the Bounds between Stythians and Gluvias.
GLUVIAS AND MABE.
The Bound of Gluvias pard agt Mabe begins at the Terminations of the Bounds between Gluvias and Stythians afd at the Corner end of Trulveys Hedge next agt Carveth Estate above mentioned in Mabe distinguished by a small river continuing all along in the bottom dividing Choon great moor, and the Hedge of Carveth Estate afd till you Come to the turn of the sd River at the Corner of Treleveys Common Hedge and from thence the Bound Returns all along by the right hand hedge of Treleever Common at the Right hand of Choon moores till you come to the fathor Corner of the two inclosed meadows or moores under Choon House next to the high Road leaddg fm Choon to Penryn which Corner is Quite Opposite Gunhingey Croft including withn yesd Bounds the Lane within Choon Gate.† And from yesd Corner the whole Lane is in Gluvias pard. And the Right hand Hedge is the Bound all along this sd Lane till you come to the Gate of Roskrow Common. And immediately upon entering the sd Common the Bound Continues by the Right hand hedge till you Come down as far as the four Cross Lanes. And from thence Continuing strait on the Penryn Road by the Right hand Hedge till you come to the Right hand turning towards Penryn including the Lane home to that turning is within the Parish of Gluvias at which Turning or Elbow the Bound Continues directly across the Lane over Penvose Hedge Adjoining to Mr. Verrans Treleever. And Immediately upon entering the sd Estate of Penvose the Bound Continues all along round by the Right hand Hedge of Penvose and the two Tregoweth Tenaments Fencing. Agt Mr. Verrans Treleever afd down as far as the further Corner hedge fencing agt Treleever afd in the Bottom and from thence still Continuing by the Right hand hedge and the River agt Lower Treleever and the Tucking Mill Ground down as far as the lower Water Gate including Mr. Verrans Barn and the Lane all the way within the sd Bound. Outside of which sd Gate next to Treloars house at a very Little distance is a small Rock in the middle of the high way which is the Bound between Penryn and Gluvias and Terminates the Bounds "between Mabe and Gluvias.
PENRYN AND GLUVIAS.
The Bound between Penryn and Gluvias begins at the Termination of yd Bounds between Mabe and Gluvias at the small Rock in the middle of the way outside the Lower Water Gate next to to Treeloars House from which said Stone the Bound of Gluvias agt the Town Returns quite across the River over the hedge in Mr. Hodges Reen Moore (Mr. Bassets Lands Contig up the Right hand hedge of sd Moore to the very topp from thense over the sd Right hand hedge into another Field belonging to Reen Estate) Mr. Bassets Land and Immediately upon entering the sd Field just inside the hedge the Bound Continues on by the Right hand hedge all Round the way field there next Adjoining up to the Style facing the high Road from Penryn to Redruth. From whence the Bound Continues quite across the sd Lane into a Gate of a Certain meado directly facing the sd Style called Marrotts Meado And Immediately upon entering the sd Marrotts Meado the Bound Contines up by the Right hand Hedges thereofe strait over the Hedge into the Wido Crowgeys Meado called Elm Tree Meado and the Windmill field still Continueing by the Right hand hedge of each of yd two last mentioned fields till you come Opposite to Challanges House where there is a great Rock and from the sd Rock and Challanges House both to the Right and Left towards Goonreeve Downs is all in the Parish of Gluvias home along to Mamody Water and the Corner of Menhennick Common afd and thence down along the Road way to Truro from Penryn to Tresuddras House as afd. But Gluvias Bound Against Penryn Extends no further than the Challenges House. From whence the Bound Continues down behind Challenges down by the right hand hedge till you come to Mr. Worths Gwarder then Gwarder Long field then the left hand Hedge of Gwarder long field home to the farther Style of the sd field next to the above Green vacant Spott under Pencoose Hill is the bound and where there is a pool as well as the sd Vacant Green Spott of Ground outside Gwarder Style which pool and Vacant Spott are said to be both in the Town. And from thence the Bound Runs directly over and Cross the Corner of Gwarder Orchard Hedge next towards the sd pool into the Orchard Continuing by the Right hand Hedge to the farther Corner there off leaving the small Rivulet that flows from yd sd pool outside the sd Hedge Running into a small Moor Called Moor which is sd to be also in the Town and directly over the sd further Corner Hedge of Gwarder orchard into Gwarder Moor next adgd still Continuing by the Right hand hedge of sd moor till you come to a thwart Hedge at the end of Mr. Enys's last moor under Pencoose the Corner of which sd thwart Hedge is the Bound between Milor, Penryn, and Gluvias. And thence begins the Bound between Milor and Gluvias Terminating the Bound between Gluvias and Penryn at that side of the parish.
MILOR AND GLUVIAS.
The Bound between Milor and Gluvias begins at the sd thwart Hedge above mentd. Continuing still by the Right hand Hedge of Mrs. Worths Gwarder moor next Adjoining to the Orchard of dstrait on under the further Corner hedge into a marshy piece of waste ground between Mr. Enys's Gwarder and Mr. Worths Gwarder home to the Rivulet running through a Conduit under Mr. Enys's Gwarder Moor Hedge next to the sd Waste piece of Ground And from thence the sd Rivulet is the Bound Running under Carvinick Estate all along of Carvinack side as far as the end of Mr. Enys's Moor at the further Corner thereof where the River turns into Mr. Enys's Moor there next adjg and Ceases to be the Boundry from thence Immediately Entering into the said Moor the Bound Continues by the Right hand hedge of sd Moor home to the Elbow or Turn of the Hedge in sd Moor then Likewise Continuing Round the sd Elbow along by the Right hand hedge home to the farther Corner thereof which hedge from such Elbow is Mr. Trefusis's hedge agt Mr. Enys's moor, and thence directly over the sd Corner Hedge into a small moor now planted with divers Sorts of Trees belonging to Mr. Enys And Immediately upon entering the sd Moor the Stream of Water or River then becomes the Bound running quite across the Road Way from Enys to Mylor Bridge through Mr. Enys's Moor next adg home to the farthermost Corner Hedge of sd Moor (the Lands of Trefusis) from whence Immediately on Entering the sd Moor the River turns down by the Right hand Hedge and is the Bound till you Come to a Gutter or Trench athwart the sd Moor from the River the sd Trench Continuing to be the Bound as far as the further corner Hedge of Mr. Enys's new Inclosed Moor next towards Cogoes Mill pool at which Corner the River Again becomes the Bound up Round Mr. Enys's Moores as far as Mr. Enys's Horsepool Hedge which terminates the Bound of that side of the parishes of Mylor and Gluvias.
PENRYN AND GLUVIAS.
The Bound between Penryn and Gluvias begins ag. at the Entrance of Mrs. Sanndrys field over the Style adjg to the Red Gate of Mr. Enys's Little Cox Close part of Pencoose Continuing by the Left hand Hedge belonging to Mr. Hodge about half way down the sd field till you Come to the Corner Hedge of the sd little Cox Close Agt Mrs. Sanndrys now Mrs. Hodges Field where the Bound Continues over Mrs. Sanndrys or Mr. Hodges Hedge into another field adjg to the sd little Cox Close keeping the Left hand hedge down the sd other field Strait over the further Corner hedge next to sd little Cox Close into a Long Field and two other Meadows still Continuing the Left hand of the sd field first entered till you come to the first Style next Carvinnick Estate in Mylor which Terminates the Bound bet. yd Town and part of that side. Where begins the Bound ag. between Mylor and Gluvias.
MYLOR AND GLUVIAS.
The Bound begins from the above mentioned Style agt Carvinick and continues down by the left hand Hedge next agt Carvinick till you Come to an Elbow in the sd Hedge where there is a watering place on the inside of the sd Left hand Hedge by the side of a Bank on with sd Bank there are two Large Trees Growing And from thence a Small Stream of Water that Riseth from sd Watering place Runs through the bottom down as far as the Water across the Road leading from Penryn to Mylor Called Bosvanna Water which is the Bound and from thence the sd River is the Bound Continuing down as far as Gwellan Gollas Creek. Where begins Agn the Bound between Penryn and Gluvias.
PENRYN AND GLUVIAS.
The Bound begins Agn fm sd Gwellan Gollas Creek and Continues by the Top of the Clift by the Sea Bound as far as Mr. Bolithoes House from whence the Road under the Cause Way home to pt of Dyers House Opposite a Wall under sd Causeway is (the Bound the Road being allways Repaired by the parish) from thence entering Dyers House at a Door of ye back Wing of sd House and going across the sd Wing and Comming, out through a Windo of the sd back pt thereof facing the little lane going up to Beheathland field then the Bound begins Agn at the hither Corner of Jacksons Orchard and and Roscrows Meado or field.‡
from thense the Bound Extended along by the Right hand Hedge of sd Orchard and field next the high Road as far as the Shutt of Water by Mr. Enys's Vinyard House taking Jacksons House within the sd Bounds And from the sd Shutt Continuing in a Strict Line to the hither Corner of Mr. Thos Hodges's House in the priory next towards the Roap house including the Vinyard Lane and the fields on each side thereof within the sd Bound All from the Corner of sd House Continuing on by the Right hand Hedge up the priory afd till you come to the farther Corner Hedge of Jacky Durgan Lane next towards Treloars House from thence the Bound turns short round upon the Right hand Continuing up the sd Lane by the Left hand Hedge till you come a little beyond the Gate on the Left hand side of the way going into Mr. Coads Field and from thence over the Hedge into Mr. Hodges field in Jacky Durgan Lane Mr. Bassets Lands And upon entering the sd Field you turn by the Right hand hedge thereof Continuing up the hill by the Right hand Hedge as far as the higher Corner thereof is the Bound over which Corner you enter into Georges Field and upon entering there of the Bound Continues by the Right hand Hedge home to the Corner of sd Georges Field on the Brink of the Hill over wch Corner you enter into a Narrow Field and still Continuing the Right hand Hedge Till you come to a Lane leading to high Cross into which you enter and Continue on by the Right hand Side of sd Lane Hedge till you come to High Cross and from thence you turn short Round by the Left hand and a little way up the Lane is a slip at the Right hand where you enter Mr. Hodges Field at the Left hand Gate of sd Field a very Little beyond high Cross. And from high Cross on the left hand of the Road going towards Goonreeve Downs the Bound of the Town Continues by the left hand Hedge along the said Lane till you come to the higher end of the Hedge of the Elm Tree meado Adjg to the Windmill Field. And from the Corner hedge at the entrance of the Slip the Right hand Hedge in the sd Lane is the Bound as far as Challanges House and the Field inside Adjoining to sd Lane as far as Challangers Ho are all with the Bound of the Town but Immediately uppon entering upon the sd Slip you go into Mr. Hodges field and the Bound of the parish Continues by the Right hand Hedge . . . . . . . as far a gate of Mr. Hodges way above of the sd Right hedge at such Corner of Gate over in Mr. Collars field called the Bow Cased still continuing on by the right hand Hedge of the sd Last mentd fields till you Come Opposite to the Hither Corner Hedge of the Wido Crowgeys field called (but now Mr. Bolitho's) at Pencoose where the Bound is supposed to be Run on Strait fm yd sd Mr. Collins Bowcase ? fields by the left hand thereof till you come to the sd Wido Crowgeys Corner Hedge and thence Continuing by the Left hand Hedge all round the said Wido Crowgeys field till you come to Mr. Enys's Cox Close Gate and Mr. Soundrys Style beyond Pencoose afd where the Bound Terminates between the Town and Parish.
An Acct of Persons Names that were present on the 24th Day of June 1776 at the Renewing the Bounds of the parish of Gluvias Between the said parish and the Severall parishes of Mylor, Perranarworthall, Penryn, Budock, Stythians, and Mabe. To which Several parishes and Town Notice was given of such intended Renewal by publishing Such Notice in Each of the said Parish Churches on Sunday the 16th day of June 1776 and at Penryn published by the Cryer thereof in Penryn and afterwards Each Notice was sett up at the Church Door of Each parish and at the public Market house at Penryn at Which Renewall the Inhabitants of Each parish and town might Attend if they Chose:—As a Copy of yd sd Notice annexed Appears.

* NOTE 1. N.B.—That formerly Hellen Kew moor adjs to Doricas wood used to be renewed as within the parish of Gluvias as that formally belonged to a Tenemt Cassaws, Richards. But sold off from sd Tennemant many years since and the Rates and Taxes there of having been for Time Immemorial charged to Mylor parish thereof its deemed to belong to Mylor, and not to Gluvias parish wherefor the Hedge from the Style at Doricas wood continuing the right-hand of Truro turn pike road home to Tresid re he and the great river must be now the Boundary between Mylor and Gluvias parishes.
† N.B.—That Mr. Reed claims the Lane for Mabe . . . of this Lane is Mr. Bassets Right, belonging to his Goonhingy is in the parish of Gluvias.
‡ And being so the Bd of Gluvias parish from the corner hedge of Roscrows meado is as follows that to say this place that the Bd bet. the parish was Antiently Reputed to be fm the sd Corner of Roscrows meado and orchard directly across by the sd Causeway to the Bridge over the River that Runs by the Wall Gate Way of the Late James Behennah's pemes and fm thence the sd River running under the left hand hedge of the sd Orchard and pemes Round behind the Garden of Penryn Almes Houses and thence round the sevl Hedges of the Orchard and pemes round to the Tanpitts to the Bridge at the House called the Cross Keys. And thence round by the Hedge of the Rope house and Walks as far as the Orchard Hedge and Walk Inclosing the said Orchard. And from the Corner of the sd Orchard next the River as far as the Corner Hedge of the Lane Leadg to Trefoart House and round by the Left hand Hedge thereof as far as Jacky Durgan Lane was formally the Reputed Bound or the sd parish agt Penryn. But it Appearing to the sd parish that the Rates and Assessments of Penryn Town have been for time immemorial pd for all the Lands from the sd River Including the Alm Ho Rop W and these Grounds are all to be within the said
